TRAINING TIPS:

1.      Stay calm and punch lighter on the bag so you can last more rounds, keep your form together, and punch sharp. This will let you get in minutes of quality bag work. You want the energy to hit the bag with proper shape and keep your punches snappy, instead of spending most of your bag work panting and huffing to demonstrate that you have “heart". Do not waste energy showing off on the bag -- nobody cares.

2.      Do not workout to complete failure. Get tired, break a sweat, and just push yourself. You over train and stop boxing very soon, if you go with no reason until failure each day of the week.

3.      Drink lots of water. One cup each hour minimum! Ask him how he did it when you are beaten by another boxer; you might be surprised at how helpful he might be at showing your flaws to you.

PUNCHING TIPS:

1.      Turn your entire body to the punch. If your feet are slow, (most people have slow feet at first) you will find that punching a little slower actually hits harder than hitting quicker. So, in other words, punch as fast as your body can turn so that you won't sacrifice power. Use your whole body instead of the arms to punch.

2.      Throw short hooks, brief uppercuts, and short rights but long jabs.

3.      You don't always have to throw a single knockout punch after another. Combo hard and light use head movement to fake out your opponent and drives. Do not forget the harder you will get hurt, and that the harder you try, the harder they will counter. Calm down when you know they will land, and toss the punches that are tough.

4.      Never forget to go to the body. Try hand to the body, and a jab to the head. Lean your head inside to smother him, when you are in real close and throw 2-3 body punches. Combos aren't needed by you those do is leave you open to counters and sap your energy. Do practice these for now.

5.      Breathe out when you punch and always look at your target when you punch. Don't hold your breath and do not examine the ground. Learn to keep your eyes open during the heat of the battle! All-day, do not wait around forever to allow your opponent to hit on you. Throw something though it does not land. Keep him believing and keep your eyes open for punching opportunities.

DEFENSE TIPS:

11.      Stay calm rather than stop breathing. Ask the other guys to slow down so the body and your mind can catch up if you're starting to panic.

2.      Hold your hands high, elbows low, and move your head.

3.      Do not waste energy running around the ring, just take 1 step and pivot out of the way if your opponent is too aggressive. Think about yourself as a matador as the bull misses pivoting out of the way. Don't forget to hit on him.

4.      Do not lean back and do not take your eyes off your opponent when you are taking punches (this is particularly tough for most beginners). Establish your ground and defend it with hard counters. you don't get pivot countered.

5.      Do not always wait for your opponent to complete punching before you begin punching back. Interrupt his combos and struck on him! Too many speedy fighters get caught up in trying to block all the punches which they never get to counter. Let your hands go!
